Working as part of a vibrant community of independent film makers in the East Midlands, Ali has acted in a number of short films. Most recently he appeared as a ghost in This Side of the Afterlife (2010) narrated by Rik Mayall and produced by Blair Barnette and Joe Walker and directed by Horton Squared, the brothers Adam and Joe Horton.

The Nottingham based band Baby Godzilla recently asked Ali to feature in their latest video - a limited edition single on the Venn records label, Don't Touch that Dial was described by Kerrang! as disturbing!

He has also played a failed inventor in the music video The Enemy of my Enemy is Me by Humanfly for Scuzz TV.

Working with the Off-Off-Off Broadway Company Ali created an artwork for the piece Clothes to Fall Apart In as well as appearing in the filmed portions of the production.

As part of the Megaphones Ali has performed with Dave Lankester at Hatch for the Time Freeze Fan Club Convention, alongside Hannah Lucy Stone and Kath Akers from The Gramophone Theatre Company.
