When the award winning, innovative Madefire hit the world with their motion books Ali Powers provided music and sound for two of the first - The Irons and The Engine.
Ali composed the score and worked on the soundtrack of the 2012 feature film Vacation Hunter "..a stunning score, which really is the backbone of the project.." - Daz Spencer Lovesey in Digital FilmMaker January 2014.
He composed music for the end credits of the short film This Side of the Afterlife (2010) narrated by Rik Mayall, and his work featured on Not Alone (2010-1) and DezZzire (2010). He collaborated with Jon Samsworth on the score of the film Ellie Rose.
Among his compositions are songs featured in the movie The Scar Crow, winner of best horror/sci-fi feature at the 2009 London Independent Film Festival for which he also wrote music for the end credits.
Ali Powers has been writing songs and composing since he joined his first band at the age of eleven. He plays a variety of instruments, and records and produces his solo work in his home studio. He appeared on Channel 4’s Orange Unsigned Act in 2009. A sample of his solo work can be found as demos through Soundcloud. His songs can be found on Bandcamp and on YouTube.
Ali also composed for, played and recorded with band Hot Japanese Girl who released their first EP, recorded and engineered by Danny Clarke, on the Nottingham based indie label I’m Not From London (for sale on Bandcamp and iTunes).
